The sacred day on the revered Tirumala hills commences with the Suprabhatha seva, a profound ritual where Vedic scholars, Brahmins, Archakas, Purohiths, and Jeeyangars affiliated with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) congregate at the Garbha Griha (sanctum sanctorum) of the Lord Sri Venkateswara temple at 3 a.m. daily. In a harmonious chorus, they recite the Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatham to rouse the divine presence of the Lord.
This esteemed composition, penned by Prativada Bhayankara Sri Anantacharya—also known as Anangaracharyar or P.B. Annan—in 1430 A.D., reflects his deep devotion. Anantacharya was a devoted disciple of Sri Manavala Mamuni, who had previously crafted another illustrious poetic masterpiece, the Sri Ranganatha Suprabhatham.
In all, Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatham consists of four parts totalling a number of 70 Slokas.
The sacred verses of the Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatham articulate a profound assurance: Lord Sri Venkateswara, the Supreme Redeemer of this sin-laden Kali Yuga, will undoubtedly deliver all devotees who wholeheartedly surrender themselves and their tribulations at His hallowed Lotus feet.
