What inspired you to establish sloka classes ?

We believe that slokas hold timeless wisdom that can guide individuals in their personal and academic lives. By teaching slokas, We aim to pass on this invaluable knowledge to the next generation, helping them connect with their roots while fostering a sense of discipline, focus, and mindfulness. Additionally, We wanted to create a space where students can experience the beauty of language and develop a lifelong love for learning.

What benefits do you see in reciting slokas?

Slokas serve as a bridge to our heritage, allowing students to connect with the wisdom of the past while developing a strong foundation in language and rhythm.

The benefits of reciting slokas are manifold: they enhance memory and concentration, promote mental clarity, and foster a sense of discipline. Additionally, the practice cultivates a sense of community and belonging among students, as they engage in a shared journey of learning. Reciting slokas also encourages mindfulness, helping students develop a deeper appreciation for the beauty and intricacy of language. Ultimately, these classes aim to instil a love for our traditions while nurturing the holistic development of each student.

How do you accommodate students who miss a few classes or join midway through? Are compensatory classes available?

We do revisions from time to time where the devotees can learn the missed shlokas. Otherwise also, we take classes separately for them to catch up with the missed sessions.

Is prior knowledge of Sanskrit or Tamil required?

Not necessary. The Sanskrit Sloka texts are transliterated in English and Tamil and shown on Screen during the class. This helps the students to easily follow the class during the session.

The pdf of the shlokas are also available for the devotees.

What is the batch size of each class (topic)

The maximum class size is 15 to 20 participants. However, if we receive more registrations, we will create additional batches based on demand. Therefore, there are no concerns regarding session registrations; anyone can join as long as space permits.

What is the medium of instruction.

Some of our classes are conducted in English. Some are conducted in Tamizh. Kindly contact us to know more particulars on this.

What is the right age for kids to start learning slokas

Based on our experience, children aged 7 and older are well-suited to begin learning slokas. For children under 5, those who are attentive and capable can join our classes alongside a parent who can support them at home during the learning process.

Do you offer classes for adults as well, or are they exclusively for children?

Our classes are open to anyone who is eager to learn and can commit to attending sincerely and regularly without absence.

What is the objective of the class?

The objective of learning shlokas is multifaceted. It aims to:

In which time zones are the classes available?

Classes are available for: US time zones, Australia Time zone and India Time zone.

What are the prerequisites for attending the session?

A good internet connection, A device, and free conference call app.

How will the shlokas be taught to the children?

The shlokas are taught with the help of a Presentation.

  • The teacher will pronounce word by word.
  • Audio Video recordings will be sent.
  • PDF will be available for them to read aloud.

Will the pronunciation be taught?

Yes. The word split up will be presented so that students can have an easy understanding and pronunciation practice.

In which language will the ppt be available?

The shlokas in the PPT will be presented in Tamil, English and Sanskrit language along with the word split up for easy understanding and pronunciation.

What content will be included in the PPT?

The PPT contains the following:

  • The shlokas in all the three languages (English, Tamil and Sanskrit)
  • Word split up of the shloka for better understanding and pronunciation.
  • Meaning of each shloka.

What medium will be used for teaching?

The medium would be English or Tamil based on the batch preference.

Are classes offered on the weekends?

We offer classes from Monday to Friday only. However, on select Saturdays, we hold revision sessions for previously taught shlokas.

Based on the request, we do organize weekend classes.

How will the students be assessed?

Students must perform a complete recitation of the shloka, either by memory or by referencing it, to another teacher. Successful completion of this task will qualify them for graduation.

What resources do we have access to?

You will be provided with pdf of the shlokas, audio-video recording of the shlokas.

Also, additionally, if required by the students, we do send the hard copy of the book to their personal address.

Will you issue a certificate upon completion of the shlokas?

Absolutely! Upon successful completion, students will be awarded a certificate, a special memento, and receive blessings from the esteemed Jeeyar of Thirukoviloor.

I am not a Brahmin, Can I learn the shlokas?

Absolutely. Anyone with curiosity and interest can learn.
